Why Style Blogs?

Have you ever opened the closet door in the morning and stood there for a long time wondering what you want to wear? Then tried a few things on, didn't like it and ended up changing 3-4 times? I have done it many times. I assume many of you have been through this situation. That is exactly where style blogs help to understand what looks good and what doesn't ;-)

Why do people have Style blogs

Most of the style bloggers get paid by various brands to showcase their products. There are various links on these blogs and when a user clicks on these links it saves a cookie on their computer. If any purchase is made from the website the blogger gets commission out of it. These bloggers almost never repeat their stuff, they are full of jewelry and brands, their pictures are always perfect generally clicked by professionals. I avoid following these kind of style blogs. Simply because the blogger advertise brands that they don't even like.

If the blogger is commissioned then they have to have a disclaimer on their blog. This blog is not commissioned.

About my style blog

Visit blogadda.com to discover Indian blogs My style is extremely simple, I am not so much into jewelry, hairdos and makeup. So if you are into Chanel and such brands then you are not going to like my blog.

Through my blog I do not want to motivate people to buy new stuff but show how things can be mixed and matched to create a different looking outfit altogether everyday and the basic things one needs to have in their closet - things that go well with anything and everything.

Sadhana, Issues and Bobby

Are you one of those who lives in a different country than where you were brought up? and have you ever used any local vernacular from your part of the world without knowing it is not used anywhere else?

I have done it many times.

I have used Sadhana cut for bangs, 'Do you have any issues?' (No one knows the meaning of the question when it is asked ;-). Even though they do agree that kids = issues ;-).

I referred polka dots as 'Bobby print' until recently. Looks like they call it that in India because it was worn in a Bollywood movie called Bobby (I haven't seen it but that is the influence of Bollywood on Indians).

I would love to hear if you had any such funny stories.

Wearing Bobby print skirt in this pic ;-)

Sacrifice

For losing weight one needs to sacrifice a lot of things. WRONG.

If weight loss is an important goal for you then what you give up is not a sacrifice. Anything that we give up to achieve higher pleasure can not be termed as sacrifice, its a gain. So weight loss is also a gain in a way ;-).

Good better best

These pictures are over a month old. When I look at the pictures taken today I feel I am getting a little better at setting up the camera, tripod, shutter speed, aperture, lighting, angles and all that jazz.

As they say 'Good, better, best. Never let it rest. Until your good is better and your better is best'.

Being Human

We all go through phases, we might have loathed something in the past and passed comments on people who were doing it. In the present we might be doing the very same thing happily, forgetting all about our opinions and how many people we hurt with our comments.

In the past I have had strong opinions on people who spent any effort on vanity, now I am not just doing it but have a personal style blog!

I still hold strong opinions on various things like wearing too skimpy clothes, alcohol consumption and such. I might take up drinking in future, who knows? ;-)

Humans are a society of hypocrites and I am always Being Human ;-)

Simplicity is the key note of all true elegance - Coco Chanel.

What looks elegant? (I mean apart from the Universe ;-) ) I think white shirt, blue jeans.

Priority

It is saddening to see that people don't spend any time on their health. Reason? They are too busy! They don't have time to exercise or to have a good diet.

Everyone gets 24 hours a day - nothing more nothing less. No one in the world is blessed enough to have a lot of time, seriously! So what makes some people focus on health and some not?
Simple - Priority!

Weight or Wardrobe

I was three times bigger than what I am today so in those days the green top in this picture fit me nice and snug.

Strangers congratulated me for being pregnant when I was NOT. I felt depressed every morning when I saw myself in the mirror.

I am saying this from my personal experience that everything looks blah on fat bodies. Not just the body shape but my face, nose, neck everything looked round and I hated the double chin.

For three years I did not buy any clothes/shoes anything whatsoever, not even a scarf (groceries yes but less of that as well ;-) ), simply because I wanted to fix my weight before I fixed my wardrobe!

(The opinion expressed in this post is for both genders)

Soulmate?

I love this loose flowery top but I don't like how it looks on those pants. I feel when one meets their soulmate their heart won't pound, hands won't shake, there won't be any ecstasy or agitation. This top needs its calm, its tranquil... I need to help it find its soulmate!
